A Strong Voice for a Great Community

Stew Henderson is working to serve the 22nd District in the Washington State House of Representatives. He's a bold, experienced, and compassionate leader who values the environment, education, and strong economics.

To make a difference, he'll need your support in the August 2010 primary elections. You can help by educating your friends, making a campaign contribution, and volunteering some of your time. Stew can only succeed with the support of citizens like you.

We're excited about the amazing support we've already won from the community, including:

Nomination of the Democratic Party, and endorsements from the Washington Federation of State Employees, the Sierra Club, the Washington Conservation Voters, Washington Stonewall Democrats, 20 local elected officials, and hundreds of our neighbors and friends

Why I’m running to be your state representative

Stew Henderson

The 22nd district needs a strong voice in the legislature, someone who will fight for the citizens of Olympia, Lacey, and Tumwater.  I’m ready to go to work for you, bringing all the skills I’ve learned in over 25 years of service, including:

  • Service in the Peace Corps
  • 20 years experience helping government work better
  • 6 years as a manager in state government, under Governors Locke and Gregoire
  • Founding and running a small business
  • Helping lead our local Obama campaign
  • Helping bring $1.5 million in grants to promote energy efficiency for Thurston County homes and businesses, as part of the Thurston Climate Action Team (TCAT)

My wife, Kathy Cox, and I live in unincorporated Thurston County.  Our two sons, Nat and Josh, went through the local public schools, and are now off at college.

I’m proud to have the endorsements of key local leaders like:

  • Jolene Unsoeld, Former Congresswoman
  • Sandra Romero, Thurston County Commissioner
  • Karen Valenzuela, Thurston County Commissioner
  • and many, many more.

I’m even more proud of the grassroots support I’m getting from state workers, retirees, union members, young people, professionals, environmentalists, and many others who are all working together to give me the chance to serve as

“A Strong Voice for a Great Community.”
